From Oman to the Netherlands, all the way to Brazil and back to Scotland. One by one, all 24 countries made it to the CPISRA World Games inauguration that had place in Sant Cugat this evening.
Music, dance and show opened the ceremony -with our official mascot, Lili, appearing for the first time!-, only followed by the authorities’ speeches, starting Carles Muñoz, president of the FECPC, who thanked all partners and volonteers, and claimed, when referring to the event, “we are the dream of the world and this is a great time for us“.
Nearly 800 people listened to Stephen Miller sharing his career as an athlete and all the story behind the creation of CPISRA, proving to be a true example for all attendants.
Jordi Torrents, sports member of Diputació de Barcelona, stated that this event was a proof that “everyone can do any sport they want without any exception“. Eloi Rovira, Sant Cugat deputy mayor, thanked everyone: “Thanks to all of you Sant Cugat is today located in the world map“. His speech was followed by the raising of the CPISRA World Games flag and the official oath committement to fair play.
The ceremony was coronated by the spectacular air show, Dreams, by La fura dels Baus. A magical moment with 24 people hanging from the sky, with lights and music. We wish for all athletes to keep the excitement for the next days.
