A Boccia European Championship dominated by United Kingdom, Russia and Portugal

BISFed European Championships, Portugal 2017 has finished with United Kingdom, Russia and Portugal at the top of the podium. The British gained 3 gold medals and 1 silver; Portugal got 2 golds and a bronze and was 1 gold medal, 2 silver and 1 bronze for Russia. Also was a great tournament for Slovakia, who won a gold medal and a silver.

The competition started on Saturday 28th with the Teams BC1/BC2, Pairs BC3 and Pairs BC4 categories. Russians and British offered a great participation in those modalities, despite reserving their best cards for the individuals. United Kingdom won BC1 (David Smith), BC3 (Jamie McCowan) and BC4 (Stephen McGuire) categories. The BC2 was for Nelson Fernandes (Potugal) in the last 2017 big championship played in Europe.

Boccia in the CP World Games – Sant Cugat 2018

Next year Boccia has a date with the Cerebral Palsy World Games in Sant Cugat, August 2018. The tournament is especially designed for those players who want to keep growing, giving them an excellent opportunity to improve their skills in a Paralympic international environment.

The Local Organization Committee (LOC), together with CPISRA, has been working in a training work, two days before the start of the competition. Some Boccia experts’ will join the programme to share their knowledge to the players. The training camp will consist in various technical meetings, practices and exhibitions with athletes giving them a complete experience to develop their skills.
